Final Leadership Journey but only the beginning of my story…Part 6

Summer 2021 in New Zealand and currently feel very luck to be here as I watch the global pandemic with concern…

To ensure that this planet is liveable, I hope that we get through the pandemic this year and can focus on rebulding in 2022.

As a leader, I have learned many things over the past 12 months and recognise that people come first. Their well being is critical for my organisation and for my personal life as well. Together and a focus on making the world sustainable is a win win for all of us. Social inequality is an area of focus for me and we cannot allow a growing divide between have and have nots. Improving our healthcare education and support for the next generation from birth to adulthood is critical.

Leadership to me is more than a process but an ongoing team work providing direction and support to my colleagues. Patience is very important as its easy to do the work yourself and forgot that your role is to guide/support/monitor.

In maori there is a wonderful quote:

“He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata”

In english:

“What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people”

Here’s to a better 2021 and a focus on sustainability. Hopefully, we will be more focused on social change versus materialism.
